In 2004, language enthusiast and entrepreneur, Aimé ZONVENI, founded General Language Services (GLS) in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The company first operated as a single-shareholder entity (Établissement) before transitioning to a limited liability company in 2008 when Olga-Vanessa Ndombasi, the founder’s wife, joined in one of the majority shareholders.

The founders’ initial intention was to incorporate a company that would cater to a huge but untapped demand for language services existing then in DRC. That demand has since exponentially grown, as the country is now home to the largest UN Keeping Mission, to a host of international NGOs while new international actors are entering DRC or operating from the country.  GLS has accordingly expanded to match that demand.

We provide language services across a wide range of specialisms including corporate com- munications, marketing, oil and gas, mining, legal, taxation, development, humanitarian sector, diplomacy, environment, science, education, etc.
